Trym originated in the garden of Mrs. Jane Gibbs of Westbury on Trym, Bristol. Chris Brickell of the RHS at Wisley gave it the name when he was sent specimens for identification.
The plant is fertile and seems to pass on its strange characteristics to its offspring in varying ways. A number of variations on the theme can be expected over the coming years.
