Galanthus nivalis flore pleno is widespread throughout the UK, wherever snowdrops grow.
Like most double plants it produces no seed; but because it produces viable pollen, it pollinates nearby singles which produce seed giving rise to new doubles.
Flore pleno has a cast iron constitution and prospers under austere conditions that would cause lesser snowdrops to dwindle away. It richly deserves the Award of Garden Merit bestowed on it by the Royal Horticultural Society.
