A large, vigorous and easy-going selection of Galanthus plicatus. It quickly forms a large leafy clump and is invariably two flowered; the flowers being produced in quick succession. The first flower is large and held well clear of the leaves while the second is smaller and opens within the leaves.
This distinctive plant was long distributed under this name by Noel Pritchard from his garden at Durris and grows as such in the Cruickshank Botanical Gardens in Aberdeen. The original material grew, in abundance and without provenance, in the policies of the nearby Durris House; where it was virtually the only snowdrop.
