David Shackleton

David Shackleton is a distinctive elwesii selection with erect pale leaves and large flowers with a distinct narrow tapered outline, caused by the incurving of the outer petals.

It is early to appear through the ground (with us) and then proceeds slowly, finally flowering quite late. Unusually for an elwesii, it often produces two scapes from a single bulb.

To an experienced eye it is easily identifiable from a distance; usually the mark of a distinctive plant.

It is one of our favourites and came to us from Noel Pritchard who had received it from Primrose Warburg.
