Comet is an excellent selection of Galanthus elwesii with a single marking on the inner petals; what would previously have been called Galanthus caucasicus. The original clump was spotted growing on the rock garden at Wisley by John Morley, the artist and snowdrop enthusiast. He obtained some bulbs, named the plant and introduced it to a wider audience.
Comet often has pronounced green markings at the apex of the outer petals, but this characteristic is not consistent. Plants growing in the Cruickshank garden in Aberdeen show this mark strongly every year but lost it on transplanting to our nursery.
Comet is a wonderful plant and highly recommended.
