Galanthus alpinus is a small convolute snowdrop from forest edges in the Caucasus.
Variety bortkewitschianus grows in one small patch in Kabardino-Balkaria in Southern Russia and was initially thought to be a separate species. Investigation has shown that it is a sterile triploid clone of alpinus.
Once settled, it develops into small clumps and flowers freely with us.
